Conflict of Interest Policy
Journal of Arabic EdTech (JAET) is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and objectivity of the scholarly publication process. All participants in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, and editors—are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research, review, or editorial decision-making process.
1. Definition of Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest exists when professional judgment concerning a primary interest (such as research validity or editorial integrity) may be influenced by a secondary interest, including financial, personal, institutional, or professional relationships.
2. Author Responsibilities
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest at the time of submission, including but not limited to:
- Financial support or funding related to the research
- Employment, consultancies, or advisory roles
- Personal relationships that may influence the research
- Institutional affiliations that may present perceived bias
If no conflicts exist, authors must explicitly state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."
3. Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts if they have:
- Personal or professional relationships with the authors
- Institutional conflicts
- Financial interests related to the research
- Competing research interests that may compromise objectivity
Reviewers must immediately inform the editor if a potential conflict is identified after accepting a review assignment.
4. Editor Responsibilities
Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest, including:
- Collaboration or co-authorship with the authors within the past five years
- Institutional affiliation with the authors
- Financial or personal relationships affecting impartial judgment
In such cases, the manuscript will be reassigned to another qualified editor.
5. Disclosure and Transparency
All disclosed conflicts of interest will be published within the article where applicable. Transparency in disclosure is essential to maintaining trust in the scholarly record.
6. Handling Undisclosed Conflicts
If an undisclosed conflict of interest is identified before or after publication, JAET will investigate the matter. Depending on the severity, corrective actions may include:
- Requesting clarification or additional disclosure
- Publishing a correction notice
- Issuing an expression of concern
- Retracting the article in serious cases
7. Commitment to Ethical Integrity
JAET is dedicated to ensuring that editorial decisions and published research remain free from undue influence. Transparency and responsible disclosure are fundamental principles in maintaining the credibility and academic reputation of the journal.
