Reviewer Guidelines

Introduction

Journal of Arabic EdTech (JAET) relies on the expertise and integrity of its reviewers to maintain high academic standards. Reviewers play a critical role in ensuring the quality, originality, and scholarly contribution of published manuscripts. All reviews are conducted under a double-blind peer review system to ensure fairness, objectivity, and confidentiality.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to: Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations. Assess manuscripts based on scholarly merit and methodological rigor. Maintain strict confidentiality of all manuscript materials. Declare any potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment. Refrain from using unpublished content for personal research or advantage. If a reviewer feels unqualified to assess a manuscript or cannot complete the review within the requested timeframe, they should notify the editorial office promptly.

Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are asked to evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  1. Relevance to the journal’s aims and scope
  2. Originality and novelty of contribution
  3. Strength of theoretical framework
  4. Appropriateness of research design and methodology
  5. Quality of data analysis and statistical reporting
  6. Clarity of presentation and organization
  7. Significance of findings and practical implications
  8. Quality and accuracy of references

Note: Reviewers should provide specific comments that help authors improve their manuscripts.

Structure of the Review Report

Reviewers are encouraged to structure their report as follows:

  1. Summary of the manuscript
  2. Major comments (substantive issues)
  3. Minor comments (clarifications, formatting, language)
  4. Recommendation (Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, Reject)

Constructive criticism is strongly encouraged. Comments should be professional, respectful, and evidence-based.

Ethical Considerations

Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents. The following actions are strictly prohibited: Sharing manuscript content with third parties Using unpublished ideas or data for personal benefit Communicating directly with authors outside the review system If suspected ethical misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication) is identified, reviewers should inform the editor confidentially.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts in cases of:

  1. Personal or professional relationships with the authors
  2. Institutional conflicts
  3. Financial interests related to the research

Transparency in conflict disclosure is essential to maintaining the integrity of the review process.

Review Timeline

Reviewers are normally expected to submit their review within 2–3 weeks of accepting the assignment. Timely completion of reviews supports efficient editorial processing.

Recognition of Reviewers

JAET acknowledges the valuable contribution of reviewers to the academic community. The journal may provide formal recognition or certification of review contributions upon request.
