Journal of Arabic EdTech (JAET) follows a structured, transparent, and merit-based editorial decision process. All decisions are made solely on academic quality, methodological rigor, originality, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.

Stages of Editorial Decision

1. Initial Editorial Assessment (Desk Review)
   The Editor-in-Chief or assigned Associate Editor evaluates the manuscript for scope alignment, originality, ethical compliance, and overall scholarly quality. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s standards may be rejected at this stage.
2. Double-Blind Peer Review
   Manuscripts that pass the desk review are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers under a double-blind review system.
3. Reviewer Recommendations
   Reviewers provide structured evaluations and recommend one of the following: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
4. Editorial Evaluation
   The handling editor evaluates reviewer reports and makes an informed decision. In cases of substantially divergent reviews, an additional reviewer may be appointed.
5. Author Revision
   Authors receiving revision requests must submit a revised manuscript and a detailed response letter addressing each reviewer comment.
6. Final Decision
   After reviewing the revised submission, the editor issues a final decision: Accept or Reject.

Decision Categories

• Accept: Approved for publication without further revision.
• Minor Revision: Small modifications required before acceptance.
• Major Revision: Substantial changes required; re-review may be conducted.
• Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards or scope.

Editorial Transparency Metrics

• Desk Rejection Rate: Approximately 20–35% (based on scope mismatch or insufficient scholarly contribution).
• Overall Acceptance Rate: Approximately 25–40%.
• Median Time to First Decision: 4–6 weeks.
• Median Time to Publication: 8–12 weeks (subject to revision cycles).

Appeals and Reconsideration Procedure

Authors who believe that an editorial decision was made in error may submit a formal appeal within 14 days of the decision notification. Appeals must:

1. Provide a clear and evidence-based justification.
2. Address specific reviewer comments or procedural concerns.
3. Be submitted in writing to the editorial office.

Appeals are reviewed independently by the Editor-in-Chief or an appointed senior editorial board member not previously involved in the decision. The outcome of the appeal is final.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently of financial considerations, sponsorship, or institutional influence. JAET upholds fairness, confidentiality, and academic objectivity throughout the editorial process.
